Reflecting on this concert has me convinced that I'm right in only ever going to gigs of artists I'm really a fan of. I was already a fan of Ludovico Einaudi's. I'm even more in awe of him and his work now that I've seen his piano solo concert.
Ludovico is an Italian composer of "new classical" music. I went with a very good friend of mine who also adores his music. We had 4th row tickets which was really awesome as it enabled us to see Ludovico Einaudi's facial expressions while playing.
He treated us with his talent for almost 2 hours. He played several tracks in a row, making them one single 15 to 25-minute new pieces. That was impressive, how he went from one piece to another, so smoothly I wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't known most of his albums by heart.
He also explained -in French, which mustn't have been easy for him- the story of his Divenire album. (For the record, 'Divenire' is an italian verb which means "to become").
And he signed autographs at the end of the concert.
Below one of my favourite pieces by Ludovico Einaudi. He played it last. That was incredible.
